Presentation

Her degree in political science did not destine her to become an artist, but her passion for drawing and her creative strength led her to another path.

"Dreams, love, hope, pain and fear surround us. My paintings speak of universal feelings, inner journeys and experiences that we all have. It doesn't matter what language you speak: art has no boundaries." Clémence Dupuch

Clémence was not destined for painting but for writing. She published her first novel at the age of 17. After studying political science and many trips, the call of art was irresistible. She started a life dedicated to the expression of human feelings, while training in psychology. She works in her Parisian studio and exhibits regularly, in official cultural venues but also in the open air, to meet a public curious about psychedelic and surrealist art.

For the artist, the beautiful is not enough to describe art. It is rather the sublime which represents the madness of the world. The sublime refers to the astonishment, the horror and the admiration mixed. It is at the same time the terror, the passion and the amazement of the soul. Clémence is interested in the paradox of the sublime: we are attracted by things that create in us ambivalent feelings between fascination, dazzlement and communion. Touched by the darkness of Egon Schiele and the light of the Nabis, she is inspired by the writings of Carl Gustav Jung and the landscapes of Felix Vallotton to take us on a journey through the land of feelings.

Her works oscillate between abstraction and figurative. She works with the narrative power of symbols, allegories and Jungian archetypes. Love, sweetness and wonder rub shoulders with darkness. Images of childhood come to the fore, creating gardens of Eden with a Jungle feel.

There is no need for words when shadows and lights are mixed together. Through mixed media combining painting, drawing, pastels, chalk, inks, the artist reminds us that even "the bravest of us is afraid of his own self" (Oscar Wilde). She expresses the silent cries of a world where pain and joy are two sides of the same coin.
