Presentation

Born in 1961, Dorothée spent her childhood in Paris. She was quickly divided between the happiness of having the capital's museums at her disposal and her thirst for nature. After her first years of drawing at the Cours Martenot, she was accepted on a test at the age of fourteen at the Clouet des Perruches workshop in Paris.

Her artistic studies continued in an original way between France and Great Britain. After a double course in English literature and training in dry pastel, oil, and watercolor, she became a professional painter (MA), exhibiting in cultural centers and galleries in France and abroad. For Dorothée, painting is a medium used to translate emotions and show pretty things. She does not seek to make the person who looks at her paintings “think" but to convey a feeling. Thus, her canvases are painted on the motif, or in the workshop according to her sketches. Being regularly surrounded by nature, by the sea, in the countryside, or just “outside" is essential for her. Water is often present. She shares the colors and lights encountered during her escapades. By looking with the “painter's eye", we can discern the beauty of things, even with the heart of more violent subjects (factories, wastelands). The technique must thus be forgotten, letting the mind of the person looking at the painting wander.
